Thumbpulling
A trend of pressing the thumbs against the roof of the mouth to 'expand the palate'. Not recommended.
Thumbpulling involves pushing the thumbs upward and forward against the hard palate in the hope of moving the maxilla forward. It borrows its logic from orthodontic expansion, which is done with controlled devices under professional supervision — usually in children whose sutures are still open. In adults the midpalatal suture is largely fused, and uncontrolled force from your hands is not a substitute for supervised treatment.
It spreads through short-form video with no mention of risk, so it is worth stating clearly what it is and isn't.

- Jaw joints
- That it mimics orthodontic expansion — controlled devices and supervision are the whole point.
- That adult palates expand easily — the suture is largely fused.
- Talk to an orthodontist if you have a narrow palate or bite issues
- Use posture and body composition for visible facial change
- Stop if you have been doing it

Put this into a system
Stop reading, start doing. Run a protocol that operationalises this.
Maxillary Projection
Forward growth of the upper jaw (maxilla) that underpins midface support, the eye area and the profile.
Craniofacial Development
The overall growth pattern of the skull and facial skeleton through development.
Bonesmashing
A dangerous internet trend involving deliberately striking your own face. Do not do this.
Tongue Posture
Resting the whole tongue against the roof of the mouth — the basis of mewing.
